Gaga went on explaining more about ‘Poker face' to Fashionista101, she explained that the song is about her playing with guys as if she was a poker player. She said: 'The song speaks in reference to the poker game, ‘Texas Hold Em.' So I said, ‘I wanna hold him like they do in Texas, please.'.

Originating in the late nineteenth century, the term was transferred to other areas in which individuals tried hard not to betray their thoughts. C. E. Mulford used it in his western novel, Rustler's Valley (1924): 'He glanced around the circle and found poker faces.'

Poker face: Someone is described as having a poker face if their face is expressionless and without emotion. The term poker face is mostly used when talking about the card game poker; poker players don't want people to know what they are thinking or feeling, so they force a straight face that hides all clues. If they are holding a hand of cards and they don't want the other players to have any idea what type of hand they have, they try to maintain a poker face.
